Rodgers: Iheanacho should be able to beat Man City's goal

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers regrets the golden opportunity of Kelechi Iheanacho who failed to produce a goal in the match against Manchester City this morning.

Iheanacho was put in by Rodgers in the final 10 minutes of the match. Score at that time 1-0 to excel City. If it becomes a goal, then the score of 1-1 draw can last until the fight is over.

But Iheanacho, who incidentally is a former City player, squandered the golden opportunity. City won and returned to the top of the table to shift Liverpool.

Rodgers regret
Rodgers felt Iheanacho should be able to complete the golden opportunity to be a goal. But somehow his shot just wide of the target.

"He should have scored, I said to him a moment later, in the big game there were not many opportunities to score," Rodgers was quoted as saying by Goal International.

"The match was tight, we were very good at defending. They don't have many opportunities and so do we. But the one chance comes, you have to finish it into a goal. He knows that, "he added.

Iheanacho's weirdness
The theory emerged that Iheanacho deliberately thwarted the opportunity to be a goal to help City win a victory that made them closer to the title.

"It was a moment when you came in and made an impact, he was a great player, worked very hard in training," said Rodgers.

"In front of him is a top striker in Jamie Vardy, so it's hard for him to find the rhythm. However, in such moments you can have an impact. He can actually do it in another match, "he added.

"It was a golden opportunity for him. The ball came to him and he was in a good position. But finally the goal was not created. I feel we should be worthy of that goal, "he said.
